ABSTRACT

Fusobacterium nucleatum (F. nucleatum) is an early pathogenic colonizer in periodontitis, but the host response to infection with this pathogen remains unclear. In this study, we built an F. nucleatum infectious model with human periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) and showed that F. nucleatum could inhibit proliferation, and facilitate apoptosis, ferroptosis, and inflammatory cytokine production in a dose-dependent manner. The F. nucleatum adhesin FadA acted as a proinflammatory virulence factor and increased the expression of interleukin(IL)-1β, IL-6 and IL-8. Further study showed that FadA could bind with PEBP1 to activate the Raf1-MAPK and IKK-NF-κB signaling pathways. Time-course RNA-sequencing analyses showed the cascade of gene activation process in PDLSCs with increasing durations of F. nucleatum infection. NFκB1 and NFκB2 upregulated after 3 h of F. nucleatum-infection, and the inflammatory-related genes in the NF-κB signaling pathway were serially elevated with time. Using computational drug repositioning analysis, we predicted and validated that two potential drugs (piperlongumine and fisetin) could attenuate the negative effects of F. nucleatum-infection. Collectively, this study unveils the potential pathogenic mechanisms of F. nucleatum and the host inflammatory response at the early stage of F. nucleatum infection.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To evaluate the clinical value of 16-slice spiral CT low dose chest scanning in the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis.@*Methods@#From June 13, 2014 to June 20, 2017, 80 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in Yuyao People's Hospital were selected in the study.The conventional chest dose(control group) and low dose(observation group) of 16-slice spiral CT were used.The diagnostic accuracy, radiation dose of the two methods, lymph node or vascular space display and image features were observed.@*Results@#The diagnostic accuracy of the two methods had no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). The dose product length, the CT dose index in the observation group were (32.98±2.57) mGycm, (44.29±3.47), respectively, which were significantly lower than those in the control group[(127.66±5.03)mGycm, (44.29±3.47)](t=106.01, 21.05, all P<0.05). The display clarity of lymph nodes or vascular space of the observation group was 90.00%, which of the control group was 92.50%, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The rates of ground glass shadow, burr of the observation group were 29.32%, 31.58%, respectively, which were significantly lower than those of the control group(41.35%, 47.37%), the differences were statistically significant (χ2=4.21, 6.94, all P<0.05). Other signs detection probability are similar between the two groups and had no statistically significant differences (all P>0.05).@*Conclusion@#The low dose chest CT scan with 16 rows spiral CT has high clinical value, low radiation dose and high diagnostic accuracy in the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the clinical curative effect of zhidanhuayu decoction on patients with carotid atherosclerotic plaque.Methods 80 patients with carotid atherosclerosis were randomly divided into two groups, each group of 40 cases, the control group was treated with rosuvastatin calcium 20 mg, once every night.The treatment group in the control group on the basis of a scheme based on the use of night zhidanhuayu decoction water 500 mL temperature and heat to 200 mL, then add water and cook until 200 mL to 100 mL, on the afternoon of two phase decoction against half amount of clothes, a daily agent;the two groups were 3 months for 1 courses.Before and after treatment, the mean medial thickness(IMT), plaque score, blood lipid and adverse reactions were observed.Results There was significant difference between the two groups before and after treatment, the difference was significant between the medial and middle thickness(IMT), plaque score and blood lipid(P< 0.05).After treatment, compared with the control group, the treatment group and the control group, IMT, plaque score, blood lipids were statistically significant(P< 0.05).Conclusion Zhidanhuayu decoction can adjust the blood lipids, but also has the effect of anti atherosclerosis.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To clarify the relationship between epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations and the clinicopathologic features of primary lung adenocarcinomas in Xinjiang.Methods:The mutations of EGFR gene at exons 18 -21 in 59 cases (including 15 cases of Uighur and 44 cases of Han) of lung adenocarcinoma tissues,which were obtained from surgical resection,were detected by amplifica-tion refractory mutation system (ARMS)method.And the relationships among mutations,race and clini-copathologic features were analyzed.Results:The frequencies of EGFR mutations in lung adenocarcinoma were 20% for Uighur,which was lower than that in Han (54.5%),P 0.05).EGFR mutation was more frequent in well-differentiated cancer,mainly in acinar carcinoma,while poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma and mucous adenocarcinoma were lower.Conclu-sion:There was a difference of EGFR mutation in primary lung adenocarcinoma between Uighur and Han in Xinjiang,perhaps reflecting ethnic genetic variation,which is worth further analyzing.EGFR mutation was commonly detected in well or middle differentiated adenocarcinoma,mainly in acinar carcinoma.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate clinical characteristics and pathological changes of tissue surrounding prosthesis after hip and knee arthroplasty.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>A total of 67 patients receiving hip and knee arthroplasty were included in the study and pathological changes of the revision specimens were evaluated by microscopic examination.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Of 67 patients, there were 25 males and 42 females (ratio of 0.6) with a mean age of 64 years. There were 42 cases of revision hip prosthesis and 25 cases of knee prosthesis. The primary causes for the revision varied, including 20 cases of infection (29.9%, within 3 months in 9 cases,3 to 24 months in 3 cases and over 24 months in 8 cases), 14 cases of pain (20.9%), 13 cases of loosening of the prosthesis (19:4%), 9 cases of joint stiffness (13.4%), 8 cases of prosthetic dislocation (11.9%), and 3 cases of prosthesis fracture (4.5%). Pathological findings in the tissue surrounding the prostheses included debris reaction, histiocytes, acute inflammatory, chronic non-specific inflammation, pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS), "pseudomembranous", calcification, necrosis, sequestrum, etc. These histological changes were frequently admixed.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Various reasons may lead to hip and knee revision arthroplasty. The main pathological findings include infection, debris granulomas, chronic non-specific inflammatory changes, PVNS. The surgical pathology of the prosthesis provids guidances for clinical treatment and basic research.</p>

ABSTRACT

Purpose To explore the significance of stomach full acoustic imaging in the diagnosis of congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (CHPS). Materials and Methods 44 cases of CHPS children underwent gastrointestinal filling acoustic contrast imaging, diameter and mucous layer thickness of the front and rear walls of the pyloric tube were measured, the contrast agent flow between the pyloric lumen gaps was observed. Results With the backdrop of the ultrasound contrast agent, delicate structure of the stomach and pyloric mucosa could be more clearly observed, it was shown that muscular layer in the middle of pyloric tube was thickest and mucosal layer edema and thickening was more obvious near the antrum;internal diameter of pyloric tube was (1.95±0.35) mm;first pass time of the contrast agent through the pyloric tube:within 5 min in 16 cases, 5-10 min in 19 cases, while clear pass through still could not be observed by 20 minutes in 9 cases;during the 20 minutes observation, contrast agent passed through the pyloric tube for 5 times or more in 13 cases, 1 to 5 times in 22 cases, while 9 cases showed no obvious pass. Conclusion Stomach full acoustic imaging enables clearly and detailed observation of the structural characteristics of the pyloric tube and hydrodynamic manifestation of the stomach liquid when passing through the tube, thus is significantly important for surgical treatment and efficacy evaluation.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the expression of interleukin-17 (IL-17) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and their relationship with pTNM staging.Methods IL-17 and MMP-9 expressions in cancer and adjacent tissues were detected from 102 cases of NSCLC by immunohistochemistry.x2 test was used to compare the ratio of their relationship with the pTNM stage.Results IL-17,MMP-9 expression rates in NSCLC cancer were 73.53 % (75/102),60.78 % (62/102)respectively,IL-17,MMP-9 expressions in different TNM stages were statistically significant correlated (P < 0.05) respectively.The expression of IL-17 and MMP-9 in NSCLC tumor tissue were related statistically (P < 0.05),and adjacent tissues were not related (P > 0.05).Conclusion IL-17,MMP-9 in NSCLC tissues were significant increased,both may be involved in invasion and metastasis of NSCLC,IL-17 and MMP-9 were correlated in NSCLC tumor tissue but not in adjacent tissues.

ABSTRACT

Infectious factors contribute to human cancers.In past few years,chlamydia,hepatitis C virus (HCV)and helicobacter pylori (HP)had been found in the mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT)lymphomas of ocular adnexa.The infectious factors had been considered to be associated with the oncogenesis,management and treatment of tumor.Antibiotic therapy against infectious factors may herald a future with a curtailed role for traditional therapies of surgery,radiation,and chemotherapy.Unlike MALT lymphoma of gastric related to a single infectious factor,multiple organisms may play a role in the etiology in MALT lymphoma of ocular adnexa.MALT lymphoma of ocular adnexa is seldom in clinic.The characteristics of MALT lymphoma of ocular adnexa,the relationship of MALT lymphoma of ocular adnexa and causal agents are reviewed.
